Update 28 July 2020 replaces 11 July update
This is to update you on a few changes to opening times and procedures since the previous message. The Club is to reopen on a phased approach from Weds 5th August (Phase 1), which is good news. We appreciate the concerns and anxieties that people may have and understandably there will be a number of stringent measures that must be in place to ensure compliance, mitigate and control any risks and ensure the safety of all members and staff.
The planned opening hours are revised as follows:
Monday – Closed
Tuesday – Closed
Wed, Thur, Fri and Sat – 11.30 to 14.30 and 18.00 to 22.00
Sunday – 12.00 to 18.00
The above is further to review and subject to change, this is also dependant on service demand and attendance numbers.
Please note that there will be two bar team members on each session, so unfortunately it may require a bit more patience with any potential longer waits to be served.
All bar stools will be removed from the bar, as the bar will be out of use. Please do not move any chairs or tables etc, these must stay exactly where they are.
The club will be clearly marked with signage and tape to show excluded seats etc.
The principle will be to have the one metre plus rule in place, two metres where possible.
There will be no food served initially, this is subject to review in early September and will be reintroduced as part of Phase 2, at a date to be determined.
Unfortunately you are not permitted to bring any food items into the club.
There will be no Live Music, Quiz Nights, Raffles, Play Your Cards Right, Bingo, Pool or Darts etc in the meantime, this will change at some point and will be known as Phase 3.
The Fruit Machine and tickets from the Lottery machine will still be available, although these will be frequently cleaned, as will all tables, seats, handles and toilets etc.
On arrival
There is no need to book at this time. You must socially distance in any queue that may form prior to entering the club at the front door.
There is strictly no access through the rear door except for those who require wheelchair access, you will need to ask for the rear door to be opened in these cases.
Please ensure that you do not enter the club if you are displaying any of the Covid19 symptoms, you will certainly not be thanked for coming to the club if you do.
There will be hand sanitisers readily available at the door and at various points in the club. There will be regular refresh cleaning throughout the sessions.
Signing in.
You will be required to enter your details in the membership book with your name, membership number and telephone number, this must be printed.
This will be retained for 21 days and will be used as part of any track and trace actions that may be required, hopefully this will not be necessary. The counterfoil from the book must be retained by you as proof that you are signed in.
Members Only
It is strictly members only, no guests in the initial phases, therefore if your partner is not a member they will regrettably be denied access.
You must also ensure that you have your membership booklet card handy to show if requested.
Seating only
You will need to go to a vacant table on arrival, only members from two households can sit at the same table. There will be tables to accommodate 2, 4 or 6 people from two households.
It may be necessary to introduce a time limit at some point in the future to ensure access and fairness to all members, numbers will be monitored and this is subject to review.
It is table service only, once seated you must remain so and not visit any other table, obviously you may need to use the toilet during your visit.
Your order will be taken at your table and you will be required to pay by primarily card where possible.
There is no minimum amount that you can spend and the contactless payment maximum has been increased to £ 45.
You will generally not be able to set up a tab, as it will be pay as you go.
Can you please place your glasses and cups etc on the tray provided, which will be collected by one of the bar team.
Please do not go to the bar or take any glasses etc back to the bar yourself.
The Bar, the gang way leading to the lobby from the Bar and the lobby area must remain clear at all times to avoid any congestion.
Any background music will be played at a low volume. Please refrain from shouting across to anyone else in the club.
Use of the toilets
Only one person should use the toilet at any one time.
The toilet door will have a laminated card showing vacant or occupied, you must ensure that this is turned over to show the current status, this card will also be wiped periodically.
We look forward to welcoming you back, this will be the new normal and it will seem strange, the important message is that these measures are necessary for the health and safety of everyone and to hopefully provide you with reassurance.
It is vital that you adhere to this and not challenge any member of the bar team or committee member if you are personally asked to specifically comply with any of these measures. It is being done for a reason. If you do you will be asked to leave and this could lead to your membership being reviewed.
Please let us know if you have any questions by sending an email to
Thank you for your co-operation and stay safe and healthy.
Best Wishes
SCC Committee
